Mr. & Mrs. Noble B. Judah Residence, 2008

The Noble Judah Coach House, built in 1924, is an example of Adler’s use of French domestic architecture in use of materials, but unlike the later Mandel Residence, it is symmetrical in its forms and massing. MEB was commissioned to almost double the square footage of the original coach house while restoring the original structure. The 3,500 square foot addition provides everyday living including a master suite, family room, hearth room, kitchen, and attached and detached garages. The original detailing of half timbering with brick work and elegant dormers punctuate the simple forms of the addition. The new forms of the addition are complimentary, distinct and do not encumber the original historic structure.
