Family Room Conversion
Recently, our client requested MEB Architects
to convert an under-utilized sun porch for their historic 1920’s
formal French home into a comfortable family room for casual
dining, gaming, TV viewing, and conversation.
Our Challenge:
The plan ‘s many entry points, elongated, curved, and very
narrow proportions is not the typical family room layout. The
plan was further complicated, by its central location and
passageway to the formal areas of the living room, reading room,
dining room. It is also a hub to the everyday spaces.
The Solution:
Three distinct groupings that work individually and as a whole.
We created a comfortable, casual space that was a fusion of
modern clean lines with traditional elements - a signature of
our designs. A room which could work with a pair of jeans for
the everyday or the button down suit of the occasional formal
event.
The room is a reflection of our design philosophy of a
collection of personal pieces, select signature elements,
wrapped with a good deal of budget friendly, retail pieces. The
understated elegance of this multi-faceted room is on display in
our collection of photos.
