Mildly inspired by the forms and detailing of the English countryside and Luytens, this home is nestled in the deep woods of Northern Illinois. The design is dominated by steeply pitched gables with larger overhangs. The massing is punctuated by curvilinear shingled walls flowing to and protecting the inverted windows, with dormers scattered about bring light and air into the captive spaces of the main roof. The stained irregular cedar shingles soften the striking forms of the gables and give no suggestion of the true size of the home.
